Where has “The House that Lars Built” been all my life?

What a cute cute blog! It has so many ideas for DIY and nifty gift finds. http://www.thehousethatlarsbuilt.com/

It’s run by a pretty blonde named Brittany Watson Jepsen from Southern California. Her site gave me this cute book tutorial made from printer paper, some string, and a paper bag!

Ugh, I’m so jealous of her gorgeous site layout. I really must take some more classes on how to make my posts look pretty! That’s all for now. Sorry I’ve been so busy and neglectful, there just hasn’t been anything I thought you all would be interested in. Hope you check out the site and make your own little book!

Betsy McCall doll cards

I love vintage things. I also love making cards by hand for my friends and family.  While there are lovely cards for sale at stores and they are certainly handy in a pinch, I find that the recipients of the cards I made myself are much more amused by cards that have a personal touch.

Going back to vintage things. I used to play with paper dolls all the time as a child and I happened upon this link to scans of vintage paper dolls from the McCall magazine. This doll had a feature in almost every issue for ten years! Each issue came with a page of dresses and a Betsy McCall paper doll.

So I printed off some dolls and cute dresses and glued them to plain cardboard cards. A little decorating with a sharpie and voilà – charming birthday cards! I can’t wait to send these to my galpals! Give it a try!
